10 Most Common Bag Fabrics
1. Polyester
Polyester is a low-cost and wrinkle-resistant fabric that is easy to dry. It can be used daily without ironing, dries quickly after washing and does not require much time to maintain. It also has good UV resistance. Therefore, it is widely used in travel bags, sports bags, shopping bags and cooler bags.
2. Nylon
Nylon is usually more expensive than polyester, but it is quite soft, flexible and has high strength. So it is suitable for high-performance bags such as Hiking Backpacks, Gym Bags, Military Backpacks and Tactical Backpacks.
3. Canvas
Canvas is a very sturdy and thick fabric, usually made of natural fibers, with good breathability, but also easy to absorb water. That's why a lot of canvas products are wax coated to enhance the water resistance. It is widely used for daily casual bags, but also very suitable for outdoor use such as hiking bags, tool bags, military bags, etc.
4. Oxford
Oxford gets its name from where it was first used - the University of Oxford. But it is essentially made of polyester or nylon, or a blend of the two. Blended Oxford combines the advantages of nylon and polyester, with good durability, elasticity performance. With the addition of a waterproof coating, it can achieve a good waterproof performance, so it is popular in the market. It is often used to make student bags, trolley bags, and pet carriers.
5. Neoprene
Neoprene is a synthetic rubber material. It is generally thicker, with good heat preservation and water resistance, so it is commonly used in diving bags, insulation bags, camera and computer protective covers, medical kits and other bags that require strong protection and heat preservation properties.
6. TPU
TPU is a material with rubber and plastic properties. It has excellent waterproof, cold and heat resistance. It is often used to make waterproof bags without seams through high-frequency welding process, which can achieve 100% waterproof, and it can also withstand harsh outdoor environments so it is commonly used in high quality bags.
7. Tarpaulin
Tarpaulin is a daily waterproof material, usually made of different types of plastic materials laminated. Tarpaulin is generally highly waterproof and windproof. Tarpaulin used in bag manufacturing is generally PVC mesh cloth. It has good insulation performance and tear resistance. It is often used in storage bags, waterproof bags, stationery bags, document bags, and various dry bags.
8. PVC
PVC is a very common plastic material, with excellent waterproof and durability yet cost-effective. Many transparent or semi-transparent bags are often made of pvc, and some stationery bags, document bags, cosmetic bags, beach bags, etc.
Eco-Friendly Fabrics
9.Recycled Polyester(rPET)
The production process of polyester emits a lot of greenhouse gasses, including the extraction of raw materials from crude oil, polymerization and spinning, but its advantage is that it can be recycled. The Recycled Polyester can retain the wrinkle resistance and UV resistance properties of the original polyester. Polyester is one of the most widely used synthetic fibers in the world, so the recycling of rPET has great environmental benefits.
10. Recycled Nylon
Recycled nylon is produced from used nylon products, such as old clothes, carpets, fishing nets, etc.. Recycled nylon can maintain the high strength and abrasion resistance of original nylon, and like rPET, it reduces the demand for oil resources, helps with waste disposal, greatly reducing environmental pollution.
