The Longtaitou Festival 2024-03-11

The Longtaitou Festival

The Longtaitou Festival or called Eryue'er Festival, holds great significance as a traditional celebration in China. Usually taking place in late February or early March, it marks the beginning of spring. With its origins in ancient folklore, it is believed to be a day when dragon gods emerge, leading people to worship them for a bountiful harvest and good luck.

During this festival, a variety of celebrations take place, including dragon and lion dances, as well as rituals to honor the dragon gods. These dances symbolize the expulsion of evil and the welcoming of peace and prosperity. Temple fairs and markets provide opportunities to savor traditional foods and purchase festive items, enhancing the overall festive atmosphere.
